Gallstone Removal

Gallstones form in the gallbladder and they can end up blocking the ducts. This can cause severe pain and while most people opt for surgery, there are other non-surgical alternatives you can use to expel the gallstones from your body. The natural alternatives are the best option for people who have medical conditions that can be aggravated by surgery and those who are too weak for the surgical procedure.

To remove gallstones without surgery, you can take some lecithin supplements. Lecithin assists in the removal and prevention of gallstones because it helps to breakdown fat in the foods you consume. The lecithin supplements are more effective if they are taken together with food. You should also increase your intake of foods that contain lecithin. Some of these foods include tofu, lentils and whole grains.

To deal with gallstones naturally, you should also take Vitamin C supplements. Vitamin C is useful because it helps to convert bad cholesterol into bile acids. When there are more bile acids in your body, the gallstones will dissolve naturally and also reduce the cholesterol levels.

If you suffer from gallstones, you should also take more water because it helps to disintegrate them. Foods that are high in fiber are also recommended for those who suffer from gallstones because the fiber binds cholesterol, bile and fatty acids and removes them from the body. Some of the fiber rich foods include grains, oatmeal and fruits.

When you have gallstone, you should also reduce the amount of fatty foods that you eat because they are high in cholesterol. This makes it easy for your liver to balance the cholesterol levels in your body and this helps to break up the gallstones.

Apart from the natural methods, you can also use drugs that are used to dissolve the gallstones. One of the most common methods is Oral Dissolution Therapy where drugs are made using bile acid. The drugs that are usually used are Chenix and Actigal and they work well for small gallstones. Contact Dissolution Therapy is also used as an alternative way of removing gallstones. With these methods, a drug is introduced into the gallbladder to disintegrate the stones. The use of drugs is effective for small stones and there are some side effects experienced when used. It usually takes longer to get rid of the stones with drugs but for those who cannot undergo surgery, it is a better alternative.
